DOL Issues New ERISA Rules for Health Plans

Nov. 22 This week the Department of Labor issued new ERISA rules designed to speed up claim decisions for people covered under employer provided health and disability plans. The rules also require new notifications and summary plan description changes.

The cost to implement the new rules is unclear and some critics are concerned that benefit costs could increase as a result.
